OPEN RAN POLICY COALITION STATEMENT ON 2021 NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT

The Open RAN Policy Coalition today issued the following statement on the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act provisions on 5G and the wireless supply chain:

“The Open RAN Policy Coalition is extremely pleased to see that the National Defense Authorization Act conference report includes provisions, including the USA Telecommunications Act, addressing 5G innovation and the wireless supply chain. Moving to open and interoperable solutions in the RAN promotes innovation and will ensure a supply chain that is competitive and secure. The support of Congress is critical to making that happen, and we applaud Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Acting Chairman Marco Rubio and Vice Chairman Mark Warner, along with House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone and Ranking Member Greg Walden, for their leadership on this important issue.

The Coalition also applauds Congress’ commitment to enhancing U.S. participation in setting international standards and supporting research on interoperability and security, which are important steps in promoting the deployment of open radio access networks at home and abroad.”
